Last night we had probably the most-hyped and preplanned alley party of the season, and it delivered lots of fire, lots of hats, lots of friends who we haven't seen in a while, and more fire. Jodi and Felix brought down their about-to-be-tossed couch, we set up a makeshift bench out of a plank that came from I don't know where, there were two grills, an outdoor fireplace full of 10 lbs. of briquets... and list could go on. The guest list kept growing as the night wore on as more and more people walked the red carpet that is the alley, finding themselves engulfed in the glory of Lowell.

So we had a great time! My friend Bethany showed up, she came all the way from Plymouth; and Mike Mailman showed up with his girlfriend (who's not from Haverhill...); of course Cuddy who is a huge fan of the alley parties; and we had Laura all the way from Chicago, my bestest friend, and with her was Curt! Plus lots of neighbors, acquaintences, stragglers. (Abe made a few unwelcome appearances, too.) Fortunately, the wind was just right so that we didn't bother any neighbors, and no authorities showed up. Towards the end of the night we had Lennox singing, and everyone agreed that he has a fantastic voice and that he sounds like Seal.

There's nothing quite like an alley party...
